JOG’s Eco Committee gets National recognition for innovative, community recycling initiative!

Eco Club Committee were delighted to get recognition from Eco Schools England for a project to recycle difficult everyday items, in the form of crisp packets. It’s a great boost for these hard-working students who are aiming to get the school a Green Flag Award by the end of the year. School parent Mr Gay invented the neat crisp packet collector kits that enable bags to be easily ‘baled’ into handy packages. These are then collected by a member of the community and Hungerford Environmental Action Team (HEAT) and recycled at a Terracycle collection point in Thatcham. The crisp packets go on to make sparkly plastic pellets for use in multiple products. The kits were donated by Penny Post (thank you!) and assembled by Y8 Design and Technology students. The Eco Schools Website holds John O’Gaunt’s community, Jog Family efforts, up as an outstanding example!
