Approaching a Fundraising Personal Best!
John O’Gaunt School’s Spring Fayre looks set to break its own fundraising record this year. The Student Leadership Group’s planning and organising paid off with a successful and fun Spring Fayre, with a whopping £557.57 being raised by Tutor Group stallholders alone.
We’re really grateful to our Jog School family for getting behind the students, and being so generous with donations and time, especially in the midst of a cost of living crisis. Our students and their families are always thinking of others, and whether it was time spent baking cakes, making donations or spending their own money on endless Tombola attempts, or trying to Beat the Goalie, it has all added up.
Charity coffers were swelled with ever popular non-uniform day ‘fees’ and, along with other events such as lunchtime Bingo (with Principal Mr Hawthorne as our excellent caller) made a grand total of £1007.37 for this term – and £1905.61 for the year so far!
The student’s chosen charities this year (decided by Tutor Group discussion) are Dogs Trust Newbury (local) Cancer Research (national) and Save the Children for their global choice.
Year 7 Avery won the competition for the best stall – which happened to be cakes, and much appreciated by all! Their prize is a Hot Chocolate and Shortbread Breakfast, with a game of bingo – naturally!
