About JOG

The Environment

Our commitment to The Environment at JOG
‘It’s not about how bad things are, it’s about how we take action to fix it.’ Kara Hall, Year 10
John O’Gaunt is committed to working better to lessen our carbon footprint and impact on our one precious planet – particularly for our current and future generations of young people and those who have graduated from JOG. We know how urgent this matter is, and how much it matters to our students. Our curriculum helps inform, educate, support and challenge our students, but we are also aware of our role in the wider world.
We’ve a mighty task on our hands, but we’re not shy of a challenge! Being a school at the heart of our community is key, and not only are we members of Excalibur Academy Trust’s Schools for Environmental Action (‘S.E.A’), we connect with Hungerford Environmental Action Team (‘H.E.A.T’) too. We are also an Eco School, working towards our first awards. Eco Club is led by students from each year group and is supported by staff, governors and parents. We are very proud of our Eco Club students, who are already leaders in their communities.
