Welcome from the Headteacher

John O’Gaunt is a unique school; a community where each child is treated as an individual, is an exception and is valued. We believe that every child has the right and potential to succeed and we ensure this happens through providing a wide range of learning opportunities both in and outside of the classroom, where our students learn through memorable experiences and carefully planned teaching to meet their needs. We know that our students have the ability to think and problem solve with creativity and vision; they just need the confidence and opportunity to do so.

Crucial to the success of any school is the quality of its pastoral system. Our care, support and guidance programme starts with a designated tutor that will work with your child throughout their time with us. We believe students succeed when their needs are understood and supported by their school; whether that is the stretch and challenge in learning that will ensure students achieve the highest grades they are capable of, or the opportunity to gain experience in a particular field of interest. Our students achieve because we know and understand them.

John O’Gaunt is a community school, very much at the heart of Hungerford, and we work closely with our partner primary and secondary schools to ensure John O’Gaunt students understand themselves as active citizens with a contribution to make. It is from this starting point that our children grow up to be responsible and rounded individuals.

I believe every child has the right to be happy and successful; at John O’Gaunt, this is our goal.

I hope that you will find this brochure useful and informative. We invite you to come into our school and see us in action and I look forward to meeting you then.
