Library and Learning Resource Centre

A Big Warm Welcome to JOG Library!

We have the most wonderful, big, light and airy Library and a fresh supply of books to borrow (something for all interests!). All Year 7s take part in our Accelerated Reader programme. One lesson a week is dedicated to relaxing reading on the comfy furniture, and then quizzing on the books you have read. The Library is open at both break times to all students, and there is usually a gentle hubbub of discussion going on. Modern School Libraries are not meant to be silent (as there are always ideas buzzing around) but it needs to be quieter than the rest of the school at breaktimes, as it is also a place to catch up on or discuss homework. We have seven computers for you to use for homework and research and an interactive daily News Hub, too.

I run several friendly and relaxed breaktime clubs which all are welcome to attend; these include Book and Biscuit ClubThe Rookery Writers (I am also a professional writer, author and journalist!), Environment Club and Young Journalists. If you are keen, you can also apply to become one of our wonderful Student Librarians.

In the first term, on one day a week, we will help you settle in by opening the Library just to Y7 and our Student Librarians, to help you find your feet.

The Library is also a great place to come and relax, re-orientate yourself if you're feeling a little overwhelmed, have lost your friends, or just need a bit of time on your own - you can always find something to do. I'm always happy to chat about the books you're reading, the films you've seen, ideas you have, what's going on in the news - and particularly anything to do with pets, wildlife and farming. Do come and say hello!
