Ofsted

Ofsted is the 'Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills'. They report directly to Parliament and  are an independent and impartial body. Ofsted inspect and regulate services which care for children and young people, and those providing education and skills for learners of all ages.

School inspections are required by law. Ofsted inspects schools to provide information to parents and carers, to promote improvement and, where applicable, to hold schools to account for the public money they receive. Ofsted reports provide an independent assessment of the quality and standards of education in each school, and checks whether pupils are achieving as much as they can.
